Faded Legacy & Astral Reign

After completing Faded Legacy Ch. 9, a new set of chapters unlocks

Morimens has two storylines with different game rules: Faded Legacy and Astral Reign. These are often called Arc 1 and Arc 2 by the community.

Faded Legacy is the original story that released with Morimens. It begins with the Prologue and ends with Chapter 9.

Astral Reign is a new storyline that started after the game's 1st anniversary. As of this writing, the latest chapter is Astral Reign Chapter 5.

Astral Reign stages have different rules. Exploration is reworked, game mechanics are rebalanced, and all characters have a new talent called Soulforge Aptitude that changes how they play. These are the rules used in almost all endgame content.

Astral Reign builds look different from Faded Legacy builds. Don't assume that teams that work in one game mode will work in another.

Each stage tells you which ruleset it uses:

Faded Legacy (Arc 1)

Faded Legacy rules are the ones you're already familiar with. They're used in:

  • Faded Legacy story chapters (normal and hard)
  • Awakener Trials
  • Interludes (including Lightless Realm)
  • Phantasmal Dive
  • Side stories originally released during the 1st year of the game
  • Events originally released during the 1st year of the game

R Wheels

The lowest-rarity wheels are very powerful in Faded Legacy.

Many new players ignore R wheels. These wheels are actually better than most SR and even SSR wheels. They're so powerful they had to be nerfed by removing their abilities in Astral Reign stages.

If you're new, put R wheels on all your supports. The benefit of SSR and SR wheels is raw stats, which are only important on your main damage dealer and shielder. Everyone else is more useful holding R wheels.

I got Dominator rank in Phantasmal Dive with level 60 characters holding R wheels

Here are some of the best wheels in the game:

Gluttony

Gluttony

Increases your max HP by 44% multiplicatively. This also affects Aequor stances and Crimson Furnace.

Frenzy

Frenzy

Lets you buy cursed relics for cheap. Many of these are overpowered and can carry runs by themselves.

Emerge

Emerge

Lets you refresh the shop more often so you can fish for overpowered relics (especially cursed relics).

Aged

Aged

Lets you start fights with full keyflare. This is often enough to kill on turn 1.

Whisper

Whisper

Lets you start fights with +50 aliemus. One of the best aliemus wheels.

Hope

Hope

Think you might die? This gives crazy damage buffs after Emergency Gnosis.

Astral Reign (Arc 2)

Astral Reign rules were created to fix game balance by nerfing game-breaking builds from Faded Legacy. They're used in:

  • Astral Reign story chapters (normal and hard)
  • D-Effect Zone
  • Hectic Skybound Rail
  • Side stories released after the 1st anniversary of the game
  • Events released after the 1st anniversary of the game

Soulforge Aptitude

Soulforge (SF) is the most important thing to level in Astral Reign.

Each character's soulforge talent gives them new abilities in Astral Reign stages. In some cases, it overhauls how the character is played, or enables entirely new teams to work.

Each level of Soulforge Aptitude also increases CON, ATK, and DEF by 3% in Astral Reign stages. This is like adding 5 extra character levels per soulforge level.

Here are some of the most impactful soulforge talents:

Keyflare Rouse

Clicking on your head now gives you the Keyflare Rouse option

In Astral Reign, you spend keyflare to get rouses during battle.

You can't rouse characters at healing junctions or shops like in Faded Legacy. The main way to get rouses is to use Keyflare Rouse.

Once each turn, you can spend 1000 keyflare (one full meter) to add a rouse to your hand. Each time you do this, the cost increases by 1000 for the rest of the battle.

Keyflare Regen is incredibly important in Astral Reign because of Keyflare Rouse. Without enough keyflare, you can't rouse your characters and they don't do anything.

Summary of Rules Changes

For full details, you can click the Astral Reign icon in each stage, or check the Mythag Compendium.

Archive Mark

Your relics and posses have 1% higher numbers for each posse you've unlocked.

Arithmetica Harmony

Playing more than 10 command cards in a turn costs more arithmetica.

Arithmetica Overflow

You can have a maximum of 12 arithmetica. Any more is converted into keyflare.

Aliemus Harmony

Effects that increase aliemus generation (e.g. the SSR wheel Incalculable Factor) are halved.

Each time you use an exalt, that exalt costs 10 more aliemus for the rest of the battle.

At the end of each turn, for each character that didn't exalt that turn, you get keyflare based on their Keyflare Regen.

Existence Paradox

Your starting death resistance is reduced to ¼ of its original amount. You get a small max HP bonus in return. If you have more than 400% death resistance, the excess is not reduced.

Each time you trigger death resistance, you get a "Silver Key Gleam." This is a 0-cost card that lets you choose from 3 random posses you've unlocked and activate one of them.

Bottomless Scar

If you heal more HP than 100% of your max HP in a battle, all future healing in that battle is reduced by 25%. This stacks up to 3 times. Each time it triggers, you get some death resistance.

Prismatic Lens

Your permanent counter is reduced each turn if you have more permanent counter than 20× your max HP. You can't gain more permanent counter than 60× your max HP.

Poison on enemies is reduced each turn if they have more poison than 30× your max HP. You can't apply more poison than 90× your max HP.

Poison and counter are 25% more effective for each roused awakener in the battle.

Attacks that get bonus damage based on your counter have severely reduced scaling. This means Pandia, Ultra "24", and Wanda are much weaker (but not Nautila's Fixed DMG).

Light Cone of Fate

If you don't kill a normal enemy after 6 turns, it will Gaze you every turn instead of attacking for the rest of the fight. Each Gaze permanently adds a symptom to your deck.

When your 15th turn starts, you get a "Light Cone of Fate." This is a 0-cost card that fully charges your keyflare and the aliemus of all awakeners.
