Daffodil is a burst DPS who slaps enemies with high-damage command cards. While she can be tricky to use, she’s capable of powerful combos in the right team.
In addition to damage, Daffodil can inflict vulnerable, boost teamwide Crit Rate, and access many supportive effects with Thousand Mirage. She is the only character in the game that can speed up your Ultra Round.
How to Play
Quick Start Guide
Against normal enemies, stall and try to get killing blows with Daffodil. This boosts the damage of Skull Reaver.
Against elites and bosses, try to set up combo turns with Daffodil’s Thousand Mirage. Stack all your damage buffs to make tons of poison or temporary counter.
Last Hitting
For a new player, the easiest way to play Daffodil is to use Skull Reaver to kill everything.
Every time Daffodil inflicts the killing blow on an enemy, Skull Reaver permanently gets +25% Base DMG. If you have Daffodil’s E2, your team also gets a permanent Crit Rate buff for the rest of the stage. This makes Daffodil quite formidable in long explorations where she can rack up kills.
Thousand Mirage
Thousand Mirage, the card you get from Daffodil’s exalt, is the biggest source of damage in her kit.
In high-difficulty stages where enemies have too much HP to kill in one shot, or in short stages where you can’t get many last hits with Daffodil, Thousand Mirage is her main source of damage.
When you use Daffodil’s exalt, you can choose a card from the following options:
- A 0-cost attack that inflicts poison and has an orison;
- A 2-cost attack that generates temporary counter and has an orison, plus a small bonus effect;
- A 4-cost attack that deals high upfront damage and has an advanced orison, plus a large bonus effect.
All of these options are useful at different times. Playing Daffodil is about understanding what to pick in any given situation.
The 0-cost Mirage is Daffodil’s best source of sustained damage, useful for grinding down bosses in long fights. It doesn’t cost any arithmetica, making it easier to fit into awkward turns. If you’re running Daffodil as a support, this Mirage is the cheapest way to get the orison you want.
The 2-cost Mirage is the strongest source of temporary counter in the game. It can do a lot of damage to enemies with multihit intentions. If you have a character that converts counter into damage like Pandia or OE Nautila, this Mirage gives them a lot of ammunition.
The 4-cost Mirage has the highest Base DMG, which makes it good for securing kills and getting last hits on mobs. The bonus effects are also quite potent, and can do things like nullify enemy STR or make you immune to incoming debuffs.
Teambuilding
Daffodil is a weak DPS on her own, as she needs a lot of setup and aliemus to function, and she doesn’t have much defense built into her kit. Her supports need to solve these problems.
Arachne is Daffodil’s best teammate, as she provides a lot of shields and DMG amplification, while boosting the effectiveness of command cards. Arachne’s rouse also lets you double-play cards from Ultra Space, which lets you get a lot more Thousand Mirages out of one Daffodil exalt.
GDoll helps with Daffodil’s aliemus issues, gives DMG amplification buffs, has decent healing, and can trigger the poison from Daffodil’s 0-cost Mirages.
Clementine is a supportive powerhouse that helps Daffodil stay alive and set up big Thousand Mirage/Skull Reaver turns.
Horla is a good healer and aliemus battery. She can use Joy to retain arithmetica for Daffodil’s burst turn, then switch to Anger and give a big damage boost.
Lily can shield and heal for as long as Daffodil needs to set up, and she can trigger poison with Strike to Protect.
In addition, Winkle is a good aliemus battery who can double up Daffodil’s Thousand Mirages; Casiah can generate STR for Daffodil and grab her Thousand Mirages from Ultra Space; and Nautila, Pandia, Ultra 24, or Wanda can abuse the temporary counter that Daffodil’s 2-cost Mirage generates.
High Investment
Daffodil’s OE gives you three Thousand Mirages instead of one. This significantly raises her damage ceiling, and enables huge damage turns if you can line up your cards against the boss intentions.
