Ogier: Oathbound (“GOgier”) is a defensive support who is good at generating shields. He also contributes decent damage with Sin-Stained Spear.

He provides access to the Primordia: Chaos realm, which gives keyflare at the start of each fight, and is very powerful in Astral Reign stages.

Undertow & Guilt¶

GOgier’s unique mechanic is Undertow. When you play Sin-Stained Spear, you get a stack of Undertow, up to a maximum of 3 stacks.

Undertow boosts GOgier’s damage and the effectiveness of his exalt, but it also reduces the number of cards you draw at the start of each turn.

Fortunately, GOgier has a few sources of card draw in his kit. When you use GOgier’s exalt, all your Undertow is converted into Guilt, which makes GOgier’s skills draw his Defense card when played. If he's roused, his Defense also draws a card; while at E2, his Strike draws Sin-Stained Spear.

Playing GOgier is about balancing your Undertow and Guilt stacks, so that you can maximize your benefits from Undertow, while drawing extra cards each turn to negate the drawback.

How to Play¶

Rouse GOgier. Use Sin-Stained Spear to deal damage and get Undertow stacks. Use his other cards and his exalt to stay alive.

In Astral Reign stages, spending arithmetica on Endless Shadow boosts the damage of the next Sin-Stained Spear.

If you’re just using GOgier as a source of Primordia: Chaos, you can ignore his mechanics entirely and sell his cards.

Teambuilding¶

Support: GOgier is a strong shielder, but he comes with strings attached. He works best in teams that can play around Primordia: Chaos and his Undertow drawbacks.

He works well as a tank in a grindy stall team with teammates like Caraboo and Xu, who don’t mind if you spend your arithmetica on GOgier, and don’t mind drawing fewer cards each turn.

You can also ignore his gimmick and just use him as a way to access Primordia: Chaos. This guarantees a lot of keyflare in the first turn of each fight, which is good for DPS that want to rouse as soon as possible and end fights fast, like Mouchette.

DPS: Hameln can double the effect of Sin-Stained Spear while retaining the STR bonus from his soulforge talent. This lets you apply corrosion, then trigger it immediately for big damage.

High Investment¶

GOgier’s OE makes him a good STR generator. His AA makes Sin-Stained Spear deal a lot of damage.

Important Stats¶

A lot of GOgier’s shielding comes from his Defense card, so he benefits a lot from Feast from Afar, as well as from wheels like Ever Sunward and The Land of Nonexistence.

At E1, GOgier gets bonus damage and a boost to his exalt from Crit Rate. This is usually not worth prioritizing over other support stats, but it makes some wheels better on him, such as Ever Sunward.
