Murphy: Fauxborn (“GMurphy”) is a strong and versatile character who functions both as a support and as a DPS.

The downside is that she can easily kill herself with self-inflicted damage, and needs forethought to play effectively.

Support Skills

Support GMurphy contributes a lot of things:

  • She changes your Aequor realm into the riskier but more powerful Benthos: Aequor.
  • She makes a lot of keyflare and is a good keyflare bot.
  • She can draw cards and gain arithmetica with Abyss Hymns.
  • In Surging Tides stance, she can generate tentacles and Tentacle DMG.
  • In Tranquil Sea stance, she can shield for a lot with Waltz of Lemuria.
  • Her exalt inflicts Birth Ritual, which is effectively a unique damage multiplier for the turn.

The sacrifice inflicted by Birth Ritual can carry over damage from your burst turn into subsequent turns. For example, after you take out a boss’s first HP bar, you can deal a big chunk of damage to the second HP bar after they Rouse.

Damage

If you build Crit Rate and Crit DMG on GMurphy, she hits for respectable damage with her exalt and Waltz of Lemuria.

Her damage is limited by how many Waltzes you can play in one turn, so you might want to have a character like Thais who can copy it for extra damage.

At E2, GMurphy gains Crit Rate from your tentacles and Crit DMG from your current sacrifice stacks.

Lemurians

In Astral Reign stages, the Lemurian characters get huge buffs from their soulforge talents when used together. These are Faros, Goliath, Miryam, Tulu, and GMurphy.

If you run GMurphy in a Lemurian team, she becomes a strong shielder, as she generates a shield the first time any Lemurian uses an exalt each turn. She also boosts the Max HP of the team, and is the strongest Lemurian damage dealer.

How to Play

GMurphy can do many things, but not all at once. Waltz of Lemuria's effects are tied to your Benthos: Aequor cooldowns, while her exalt and Abyss Hymns will kill you if you use them too much.

When playing with GMurphy, you need to think about the best time to use each of her abilities. When is the best time to shield with Tranquil Sea stance? When should you burst with Raging Waves stance? And what stance should you use Waltz of Lemuria in?

Matching your team to the rhythm of GMurphy’s cooldowns, and matching her cooldowns to the enemy intentions, is key to playing with GMurphy.

Sacrifice Management

If you’re dying to sacrifice, you should stop using GMurphy’s exalt and Abyss Hymns for a while. Sacrifice goes away by itself over time. You can also cleanse some sacrifice by letting Abyss Hymns be discarded instead of playing it.

Murphy can halve your current sacrifice stacks with Vortex Reversal, letting you get away with riskier plays when she’s in the team.

Sacrifice Cheese

GMurphy’s E2 gives you bonus Crit DMG based on how much sacrifice you have compared to your Max HP. This can be abused in a few ways.

If your team is strong enough to kill enemies in one turn, you can spam GMurphy’s Abyss Hymn and exalt to boost her damage. Since you win the fight before the turn ends, you'll never take damage from sacrifice.

There are also certain enemies that reduce your Max HP to 1. If you have, for example, 100 sacrifice when this happens, you now have 10000% of your Max HP in sacrifice, and GMurphy gets a gigantic Crit DMG boost.

Teambuilding

GMurphy is versatile enough that she can fit into most Aequor teams. However, she forces your team into the Benthos: Aequor cooldowns, which isn’t always ideal. For instance, a slow poison team would rather be able to shield with Tranquil Sea stance every turn.

Corposant and Tawil work very well with GMurphy as a support and secondary DPS.

If GMurphy is the main DPS, she works best with teammates that let her play more Waltzes in one turn, such as Thais, Arachne, or Casiah.

In Astral Reign stages, GMurphy can also be run in a full Lemurian team with Miryam, Tulu, and Goliath. Goliath can be replaced with Faros if surviving is more important than dealing damage.

High Investment

GMurphy’s OE gives her three Waltzes of Lemuria with prepare. This is a huge boost to her damage ceiling and makes her a strong DPS in her own right.

Important Stats

At E1, Waltz of Lemuria gets minor buffs from Keyflare RegenKeyflare Regen Keyflare Regen, which is a good stat that you should be building anyway.
